The Place of Privilege

johntparishIn the early 1970’s three prominent Christian men got together and planned a ministry that they felt would help bring revival to America. They wisely decided to consult with an experienced man of God before they began.

They went to Gordon Lindsay – Missionary, author, teacher – the founder of Christ For The Nations in Dallas, Texas. At that time Rev. Lindsay had been in a successful ministry 45 years. He gave them good advice in the form of a warning. Gordon Lindsay said, “Put on the whole armor of God. If you are going to do a great work for God, the enemy will probe at you until he finds a chink in your armor.”

When you are a threat to Satan he always attacks. He didn’t bother Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar. He tried to destroy Job.

The Principle

The Place of Privilege is the Place of Peril! There are two main reasons:

  1. You will be a target of Satan.
  2. You will be held to a higher standard by God.

“To whom much is given, much is required.”

The scripture in both Old and New Testaments give us this warning:

“My brethren, be not many masters (teachers), knowing that we will receive the greater condemnation (judgement) (James 3:1)

When the Apostle Paul, who wrote over half of the New Testament, came near the end of his life he said, “I have fought a good fight.” This greatest of all apostles called his life and ministry a warfare. And will he might! He was beaten, imprisoned, ship wrecked, and finally beheaded. But he also spread the gospel all over the Roman Empire.

It didn’t come easy. “The place of Privilege is the Place of Peril.”
