Night Before Fancy Farm rally features gubernatorial candidate Matt Bevin and down-ticket candidates

fancyfarmAURORA — For conservatives, the Night Before Fancy Farm means something other than the traditional Fancy Farm picnic on the first Saturday in August. While the traditional Fancy Farm Picnic is a slug fest between Democrats and Republicans, the night before has become a pep rally.

This year Kentucky Republican gubernatorial candidate Matt Bevin will headline the 10th annual Night Before Fancy Farm event that also features all the candidates running for state constitutional offices in November. Candidates have a chance to be in a friendly environment in preparation for the boos that will come from their opponents’ supporters the next day.

The Night Before Fancy Farm will be held in the air-conditioned Tennis Center at Kenlake State Park on the banks of Kentucky Lake in Marshall County from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, July 31.

This special event is organized and promoted by GOP members in Marshall, Calloway and Trigg counties. Hundreds are expected to attend to hear the candidates and enjoy a catfish dinner with all the trimmings.

In addition to GOP hopeful Matt Bevin, the following candidates will be speaking: Whitney Westerfield, candidate for Kentucky attorney general; Mark Harmon, candidate for state auditor; Steve Knipper, candidate for secretary of state; Alison Joy Ball, candidate for state treasurer; Ryan Quarles, candidate for secretary of agriculture; and local candidate Kevin Neal, who is running for Marshall County Judge-Executive.

“We are thrilled to welcome the state candidates to western Kentucky,” said Marshall County Republican Chair Paula Robinson. “It is not only exciting for our part of the state to be critical to the success of the candidates, but for Night Before Fancy Farm to be celebrating its tenth year.”

Event tickets now on sale for $25.
