On Friday July 17th, Deputy Steven Oakley and Deputy William Strader were dispatched to Oscar Brown Ln in reference to a possible domestic dispute. Upon arrival deputies were notified that someone had come to the residence to drop off a child and the caller, 22 year old Andrew K. Salcedo, came out of the house demanding that the person leave the property. Deputies reported that Salcedo had been drinking and was told to go back into the house. Salcedo became very disruptive and at that point was advised he was under arrest. Deputies attempted to handcuff Salcedo when he began resisting and jerked away from the handcuffs, causing minor injuries to both deputies. Salcedo was arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct 2nd Degree, Resisting Arrest, Alcohol Intoxication in a Public Place and Assault 3rd Degree on a Police Officer.
On Saturday July 18th, Deputy Nathan Maxlow observed a vehicle driving carelessly on East 12th Street in Benton. The driver slammed on the brakes as he approached Valley Road and nearly wrecked attempting to slow down. The subject was located on the porch of his home on Benton Birmingham Rd and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. A field sobriety test indicated that the subject was under the influence. Eric D. West, 34, of Benton was arrested and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence and Careless Driving.
For the week of July 13th through July 20th the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following: 12 Traffic Accidents, 5 Motorist Assists, 10 Burglary/Theft reports, 10 Disturbances, 7 Investigations, 4 Domestic Disturbances, 15 Warrants Served, 14 Civils Served, 20 Have a Deputy Call and 22 Traffic Stops contributing to 212 calls responded to.
