AURORA – Minor contact between a tugboat-barge combination and the Eggner’s Ferry Bridge was reported late Wednesday night, but there was no major damage and no interruption of traffic on the bridge.
Construction of the replacement for the 83-year-old steel bridge may also have been contacted by the vessel, according to reports.
Inspection of the bridge and investigation of the incident continues.
The bridge was struck by a large vessel in January 2012 and was closed for four months before a collapsed span of the bridge could be replaced.
