A contractor for P&L Railroad plans to close KY 1523/Industrial Parkway in the Calvert City area of Marshall County for rail crossing upgrades at two locations starting Monday, July 13, 2015. Closures are planned at the follow locations:
Monday & Tuesday, July 13-14
KY 1523/Industrial Pkwy at Calvert City at mile point 2.801 near Shar-Cal Road- This is the second crossing from US 62 on the west end of KY 1523 near the Bailey Port Coal Terminal. Roadway is expected to reopen late Tuesday afternoon.
Wednesday-Friday, July 15-17
KY 1523/Industrial Pkwy at Calvert City at mile point 1.887. This is the first crossing from US 62 on the west end of KY 1523 near Greer Lane, also known as the Cloud Crossing area. This is near TVA/Duke Energy and Precision Steel facilities. Roadway is expected to reopen late Friday afternoon.
The closure of KY 1523/Industrial Parkway for these rail crossing upgrades is being phased to allow businesses and residents to have access from one direction at all times.
This will impact employees and construction workers commuting to and from the Calvert City Industrial Community. Motorists who regularly travel this section of KY 1523/Industrial Parkway at Calvert City should make advance alternate travel plans on these dates.
There will be no marked detour. However, motorists may self-detour via KY 95/Main Street through Calvert City, depending on their destination.
