Fundraising underway for Independence Day Bash at Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park

kdv-fireworksGILBERTSVILLE – A fundraising effort to support the annual fireworks display at Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park is well under way. The fundraiser is being held by the Friends of Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park, a group of local individuals committed to promoting and supporting the state park.

Mac McDonald, chairman of the committee, said the group has raised about $4,000 so far. The committee hopes to collect $10,000 in donations this year. McDonald is optimistic about reaching that goal and said the group has commitments totaling roughly $7,000 so far, which is slightly more than last year’s total.

We’re well on our way,” he said, “but the more money we bring in, the more fireworks, the bigger the boom, so to speak.”

Fireworks aren’t the park’s only Fourth of July attraction. Festivities are set to begin at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 4th with a vintage car cruise-in at the Convention Center parking lot. Classic rock band Cantageus will play a free concert at 7:00 p.m. at the Old Beach. Fireworks will begin at dusk.

Donations are still being accepted and can be sent to Ann Riley, Committee Secretary, at 205 W. 13th St., Benton. Click here to visit the KDV Facebook page for more information on this year’s event.
