Friday night collision at Southern Pride Truck Stop leads to DUI arrest for Marshall County man

duiPADUCAH – The McCracken County Sheriff’s Department was called to the scene of a two-vehicle accident at the entrance to Southern Pride Truck Stop shortly before 6:00pm Friday night.

An investigation revealed that 38 year old William Khourie of Paducah was sitting stationary in a 2012 Dodge pickup at the entrance/exit of Southern Pride waiting to enter US 68. 38 year old Donald Farmer of Benton, KY was operating a 1985 GMC pickup east bound on US 68 when for unknown reasons he drifted into the entrance and struck Khourie in the driver side.

Upon deputies arrival, 51 year old Shohny Munz was seated in the driver seat and stated she attempted to turn into the entrance of Southern Pride but lost control due to the slippery surface from the rain. Further investigation, witness statements and a confession by Munz, however, showed that Farmer was the actual driver of the vehicle. Upon colliding with Khourie, Munz left the passenger seat to check on Khourie. Farmer switched seats and had Munz state that she was driving.

Ultimately, Farmer was taken into custody and lodged in the McCracken County Regional Jail. Farmer was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence (Aggravated Circumstances), Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree and Criminal Mischief 1st Degree.

Khourie suffered minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
