Chamber of Commerce membership survey indicates 64 percent are in favor of alcohol sales in the county

KLCOCDRAFFENVILLE –  The Kentucky Lake Chamber of Commerce has released a survey completed by its membership which indicates 64 percent of responding participants (132 members) are in favor of alcohol sales in the county.

In a press release on the survey, the KLCOC said “Our slogan to our membership has been ‘We are Here Working for You.’ Additionally, the Chamber’s says their mission statement is ‘Building for the Future by Promoting Business Retention and Growth’ adding that “one duty of the Chamber is to represent its members on issues which affect them.”

The KLCOC reports that they conducted the survey of membership to gain insight on how best to represent the business community on the issue of the sale of alcoholic beverages in Marshall County.  Members were asked if they thought the Chamber should take a stand “In Favor”, “Against”, or not take a stand at all.

Of the 243 surveys sent out, 54% (132) were returned.  The results of the surveys returned were as follows:  64% (84) of the respondents were for the Chamber taking a stand “in favor”, 19% (26) of the respondents were for the Chamber taking a stand “against” and 17% (22) of respondents were for the Chamber not taking a side on the issue.

Regardless of the outcome of this vote, the Chamber says “We believe Marshall County will remain a wonderful community in which to live because of the quality people who reside here and the Kentucky Lake Chamber of Commerce will continue to support and promote the businesses in Marshall County and our region.”
