Grand Rivers man taken into custody, charged with resisting arrest and driving on DUI suspended after string of arrests in recent months

BENTON – A Grand Rivers man who has been in trouble with law enforcement on multiple occasions, has once again been arrested after he was discovered driving on a suspended license.

According to police reports, Sheriff Kevin Byars observed a vehicle leaving the judicial building parking lot today and recognized the driver as being 40 year-old Monte Clark who is DUI suspended.

By the time Sheriff Byars got to his vehicle, the suspect had pulled out onto fifth street and proceeded west on 5th Street, entering the Wal-Mart parking lot.

Sheriff Byars located Clark’s vehicle and attempted to effect an arrest when Clark resisted and a struggle ensued. Sheriff Byars was able to get the suspect handcuffed and taken into custody.

Clark was charged with Driving on DUI Suspended Operators License and Resisting Arrest. A search of the vehicle by Detective Don Tidwell pursuant to a search warrant revealed that there were over two grams of methamphetamine and 1/4 gram of marijuana in the vehicle. Further charges are now pending.

Clark had already been arrested twice this year, once in March for nearly causing a head-on collision on US Highway 68 where officers noted he was intoxicated on some type of illegal substance believed to be bath salts or other synthetic drug.

He was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs 1st offense, possession of controlled substance 1st degree 1st offense-meth, possession of synthetic drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

In April, an active warrant was issued for Clark’s arrest after he violated his bond conditions from District Court. On May 21st, law enforcement caught up with Clark who, at the time, was a passenger in a vehicle found speeding 17 miles over the limit in a school zone.

The driver of the vehicle was charged with multiple offenses including possession of controlled substance 1st degree – methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia – buy/possess, and possession of controlled substance 1st degree – drug unspecified.

Clark was taken into custody and held at the Marshall County Detention Center where he was once again released on bond. He has been incarcerated in the Detention Center again following today’s incident.
