The Hunger Banquet proves to be an enlightening and successful evening for all in attendance

Since 50% of the world live on less than $2.50 a day- half of those attending the Hunger Banquet got to experience sitting on the floor and eating rice. They seemed to be having a good time!

The Hunger Banquet was a success and over $6000 was raised for the orphans of Siritanyi Children’s Home in Bungona, Kenya.

Scott Pile, middle school Sunday School at Hardin Baptist and science teacher at CCMS, emceed and gave out statistics regarding world poverty, such as, “80% of the world’s population lives on less than $10 a day and will never own a car or take a vacation.” Chris Allen, director of Adult Ministry at Hardin Baptist, was the main speaker and defined, “Being Rich.” We learned that making $37,000 a year puts one in the top 1% of the world’s wage earners.

It was a moving evening and the video of Dorothy brought some to tears. Jordan Harris sang for us. Jordan Beale shared her vision for the orphans with us. All photography is credited to Rachel Harris.
