Marshals beat Hickman County 11-2, will meet McCracken County in Region 1 semi-final

DRAFFENVILLE – Leaving two stranded on base in the 1st and two in the 2nd, the Marshals finally got a run on the board in the 3rd inning to take an early 1-0 lead over Hickman County in the first game of the Region 1 Tournament at Marshall County High School.

A single by Austin Boaz in the bottom of the 3rd for Hickman County put a runner on base that was stranded on a double play by the Marshals to end the inning.

Hickman County took the lead in the 4th inning when Steven Allen walked followed by a 2-run homer by Hayden Spillman to give the Falcons a 2-1 lead.

The Marshals tied the game in the 5th on a single by Blake Johnson, bunt by Justice Beal, single by Mason Wooten and a run scored by Beal when Hunter Jaco reached first on an error.

Marshall County put up six runs in the top of the 6th on four hits that began with singles by Chandler Rogers and Dylan Greenfield. The base runners were moved around on a sacrifice bunt by Cody Clark with Weston Duke, running for Rogers, made it home on a Hickman County error to go up 3-2.

Chase Bright walked followed by Greenfield making it a 4-2 game on a passed by the Hickman County catcher. Bright scored from third on another passed ball and Wooten’s single scored two for a 7-2 Marshall lead, all on one out. An RBI single by Dylan Givens scored the Marshals sixth run of the inning for a 8-2 lead.

The Marshals added three more runs in the 7th inning on an RBI single by Johnson, Bright scoring on a passed ball and RBI single by Wooten for the 11-2 win.

J.C. Goins got the win for the Marshals in his five innings on the mound, giving up 4 hits and 2 runs.

The Marshals will now meet McCracken County, who was a 4-0 winner over Graves County, on Tuesday at 5:00. In the third quarter-final game Ballard Memorial beat Tilghman 4-3 and in the final game Calloway County defeated Carlisle County 4-2
