Marshals have won seven straight, beat #25 Ballard Memorial

DRAFFENVILLE – Seven runs in the first and three in the fifth gave the Marshals a 10-0 5-inning win over Trigg County on 14 hits in their home game on Monday against Trigg County.

The first inning fireworks came on RBI doubles by Chase Bright and Mason Wooten, RBI singles by Dylan Greenfield and Dylan Givens and a 2-run single by Blake Johnson.

A 2-run double by Justice Beal in the fifth and Beal scoring when Brandon Blossom reached on a fielder’s choice gave the Marshals the 10-run win.
JC Goins earned the shut out win on the mound for the Marshals.

Leading 5-3 after six innings at #25 Ballard Memorial, the Marshals added four runs in the seventh to beat the Bombers 9-3, handing them just their fifth loss of the season.

Mason Wooten took the win on the mound, giving up three hits, walking none and striking out one.
The Marshals never trailed in the game after going up 1-0 in the first when Bright scored on a wild pitch.

A sacrifice fly by Bright scored Beal in the top of the fifth for a 2-0 lead that Ballard cut to 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth.
Going up by four in the sixth, the Marshals scoring came on an RBI single by Chandler Rogers, a run by Greenfield scored on a bases-loaded walk by Jaco and an RBI single by Johnson.

Ballard cut the lead to two in the sixth but the Marshals capped off the win with a 4-run seventh inning that began on a 2-out single by Rogers and single by Jaco followed by a 2-run double by Johnson.
Johnson with the hot bat, was 4-5 at the plate with a double and three RBIs.

The Marshals at 23-8, have won their last seven straight games, and will conclude their regular season this week at Graves County Thursday, at home on Friday against Carlisle County when they will celebrate Senior Night at 5:00 before the game and Saturday at Caldwell County.

With the #1 seed in the District Tournament, the Marshals will await the winner of Monday’s Murray-Calloway game and will play in the championship game on Tuesday at 6:00 at Marshall County.
