DRAFFENVILLE – Hopkinsville out-hit the Marshals 8-6 in Saturday’s Dreammaker Classic game at Marshall County High School, but the Marshals made the most of their six hits to pull out the 3-1 win.

Hunter Jaco took the win on the mound, stranding seven on base and striking out four, going the distance in the Marshals win.

The Marshals went up 2-0 early in the first inning that began on a walk by Blake Johnson, single by Bright and single by Wooten that scored Johnson. Cody Clark with the sacrifice hit brought in the Marshals second run of the inning.

Dylan Givens hit a solo home run in the sixth inning to put the Marshals up 3-0 with Hopkinsville avoiding the shut out with a run in the seventh on an RBI single by Easton McGee.

The 21-8 Marshals have a busy week of games ahead starting at home on Monday against Trigg County, at Ballard Memorial Tuesday, at Graves County on Thursday, home against Carlisle County Friday and at Caldwell County on Saturday.

Friday at Hickman County, after taking a 1-0 lead in the first, the Marshals put up 6 more runs in the fourth that began on a walk by Hunter Jaco and single by Justice Beal. Jackson Beal reached on a fielder’s choice with Jaco attempting to steal home but was thrown out.

The scoring in the fourth then shaped up on a two run double by Johnson, RBI single by Bright, two run double by Givens and RBI single from Jaco for a 7-0 lead. Hickman County scored one run in the fourth to avoid the shut out while the Marshals added one more in the fifth on an RBI single by Dylan Greenfield.

Weston Duke on the mound for the Marshals took the win, allowing one hit, one run and striking out five in his four innings of work.
