Marshals shut out St. Mary, fall to #1 McCracken County

DRAFFENVILLE – Monday, the Marshals took care of St. Mary, 10-0, then hosted #1 McCracken County on Tuesday losing 10-3. The Mustangs 17-hit win was fueled by Ryan Garner, Trent Shelby and Reid Pope, all with three hits each.
Caleb Reinhardt got the win for the Mustangs allowing three runs on three hits, extending McCracken’s season record to 21-2. Their only two losses have come from Bartlett, Tn.
McCracken led 6-0 after four innings before the Marshals closed the gap to 6-3 scoring two runs on a single by Lucas Forsythe and one on a double by Chase Bright.
The Mustangs didn’t waste any time cancelling out the Marshals three runs by adding three more in the 6th inning on a 2-run double by Ian Walters and sacrifice hit by Derek Schneider.
Shelby hit an RBI double in the 7th inning for the Mustangs for the 10-3 win.

J.C. Goins earned the shut-out over St. Mary, walking one and striking out two, during his five innings on the mound.
The Marshals opened the game with two runs on an RBI single by Mason Wooten that scored Bright and Wooten scoring on an error after stealing third.
Their 6-run fourth inning began with Dylan Greenfield scoring on a wild pitch, Duke scoring on a passed ball and with two outs, Johnson hit a double to center field that scored Hunter Jaco and Lucas Forsythe with Bright coming in from third to score. The sixth run of the inning came from a single by Wooten that scored Johnson for an 8-0 lead.
The Marshals scored their ninth run in the fifth and 10th in the sixth for the shut-out win on eight hits and one error.
Following the loss to McCracken County, the Marshals season record stands at 16-6.
