Lady Marshals beat Graves, split Saturday games against #11 Union County

MAYFIELD – Exchanging leads several times, the Lady Marshals in the end came out on top 7-6 over Graves County Friday.
Leading 2-0 after their first at-bat, runs were scored by Lexee Miller and Abby Fiessinger on a double by Peyton Smothers.
Graves County took a 3-2 lead after the 1st inning scoring on an RBI single by Lindsey Whitlock who went on to steal home and an RBI single by McKenzie Payne.

Bailey Murphy hit a double and triple and was 3-4 at the plate against Graves County.

An RBI triple by Miller tied the game in the 2nd and a 2-run 3rd inning put them up 5-3 on an RBI double by Bailey Murphy and single by Addie Young that brought Murphy in for the score.
The lead changed hands again in the bottom of the 5th with Graves County loading the bases, scoring two runs with no outs and a third run with

bases loaded when Dana Adkins grounded out to second.
The Lady Marshals 2-run 6th put the game away and began with a 2-out walk by Aubree Kemp and a double by Fiessinger that scored Kemp. Kenslie Cross doubled to left field, scoring Fiessinger for the 7-6 win.

The Lady Marshals split their Saturday double-header with #11 Union County, losing the first game 7-2 and picking up the 3-2 win in the second game.

Trailing 7-0 after five innings in game one, the Lady Marshals rallied to score two runs that began with a single by Young, McKensie Harper reaching on an error and a single by Miller.
A single by Chaney Stearns scored Young and Harper came to home plate when the Union County catcher couldn’t maintain control of the ball.

Striking first in game two, the Lady Marshals scored one run in the top of the 1st on a home plate steal by Stearns.
Union County took the lead in their 1st inning at bat, scoring two runs.
Marshall County’s 2-run 5th inning was enough for the win, that began with a one out single by Cross, highlighted by a 2-run homer by Smothers.
The Lady Marshals record now stands at 8-4.
