Marshals split district games with Calloway County

DRAFFENVILLE – On Monday at Calloway County, Justice Beal and Mason Wooten opened the game with a double and triple to give the Marshals an early 1-0 lead.

The Marshals added another run in the top of the 3rd when Blake Johnson, Wooten and Dylan Greenfield loaded the bases, with Johnson scoring before the Marshals left two stranded on the third out.

Calloway loaded the bases in the bottom of the 3rd on no outs, with Bright on the mound getting out of the inning with a fly ball out and two straight tags at home plate from Bright to Chandler Rogers.

The Marshals made it 3-0 in the 4th when Hunter Jaco scored on a left field single by Beal and  4-0 in the 5th when Weston Duke, running for Rogers, crossed home plate when Dalton Riley reached on an error.
The Lakers scored their only run of the game in the 5th on a based loaded single by Lofton Pigg that scored Wade Carter.

Playing back-to-back nights, the Marshals hosted the Lakers on Tuesday in a game that quickly got out of hand, with Calloway scoring five runs in the first inning on four hits.

Calloway loaded the bases with one out when a single by Bryce Orr scored Carter setting off a string of hits and runs for the Lakers.
Wooten put the Marshals on the board in the 2nd, scoring on a single by Jaco.

The Marshals scored two more runs in the 4th to cut the Laker lead to two. Rogers opened the inning with a single followed by a single from Jaco and another from Riley that loaded the bases.

Bright stepped up to hit an RBI single with their third run of the game coming on a fielder’s choice to Beal.
Calloway added one more in the 6th when Jeremy Darnell scored on an error for the 6-3 win.
The Marshals season record stands at 11-5, Calloway improved to 4-6.
