Bomb threat at Benton Middle this morning leads to school evacuation, sweep of premises

BENTON – Yet another bomb threat led to the evacuation of a Marshall County School this morning, this the third such incident this year with two others occurring at the high school – one in January and one in March.

According to the Benton Police Department, at approximately 11:20 a.m., the Benton Police Department responded to the Benton Middle School in reference to a reported bomb threat.

A teacher at the school located the bomb threat which had been written on a bathroom stall. The Benton Police Department, along with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and Kentucky State Police Bomb Detection K-9 Unit conducted a sweep of the school, to find that it was all clear.

Shorty after 1:10 p.m., students and faculty were allowed to re-enter the school.
