Marching Marshals earn Grand Champion honors at Skyhawk Marching Band Invitational

MARTIN, TN – The Marshall County High School Marching Marshals kicked off their competition season Saturday by traveling to the University of Tennessee at Martin for the Skyhawk Marching Band Invitational.

The Marching Marshals faced off against nine bands from Tennessee and Kentucky in the Small Band Division. Field Commanders Maddy Powell and Allison Kidd brought home 1st place honors for Field Commanders, and the Marching Marshals placed first in Class AA, earning overall Grand Champion in the Small Band Division.

Saturday, September 20, the Marching Marshals will host their annual Star Fest Marching Band Competition. The contest will begin at 5:15 PM at Carroll Traylor Stadium. Six bands from Kentucky and Tennessee will be competing. Admission is $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for children and students age 5 and up.

The Marching Marshals are celebrating their 40th anniversary this year with the publication of a cookbook. The book is filled with recipes from alumni and current band students. They will be available for purchase at Star Fest for $10 per copy, or by calling 270-519-8286.band-grandchampion2
